Cute Firework Scene Using Lawn Fawn and MFT Stamps!

Hey lovelies!
With Guy Fawkes night just around the corner I created this “just because” card using the gorgeous new “Winter Skies” set from Lawn Fawn alongside MFT’s “Fireworks” set! We don’t usually send cards for Guy Fawkes night here, but for me if there’s a celebration that’s reason enough for me to make a card to send to my loved ones!
1.jpg
I cut a panel using the “Basic Rectangles” Creative Cuts from Mama Elephant, stamped my fireworks using Versamark ink, coated them in white embossing powder and set with my heat tool. I blended Abandoned Coral, Mermaid Lagoon and Seedless Preserves Distress Ink in small areas all over my panel before blending Black Soot Distress Ink all over keeping it darker towards the edges. I sprayed my panel with my Distress Sprayer and cleaned up the excess water. I splattered the entire panel using white watercolour paint and some metallic gold watercolour paint to give a slight shimmer.
2.jpg3.jpg
I stamped my images from Lawn Fawn’s “Winter Skies” set using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured them using my alcohol markers. I fussy cut them out and added some highlights with a white gel pen. To ground my images I cut a panel the same size as my background from black card stock, and cut a simple hill shape using my scissors before adhering everything in to place.
45.jpg
I cut a larger panel from white card stock using the “Basic Rectangles” Creative Cuts to frame my smaller panel and stamped it with fireworks using Iced Spruce Distress Oxide Ink. I used my powder tool on the black hill piece of my card, stamped my sentiment from Neat and Tangled’s “Beavers Eh” stamp set, heat embossed it with white embossing powder and adhered everything to my card base!

Thanks for reading lovelies! I definitely love how well these two sets work together! I feel like this would be a great idea for New Year cards too!

Smiles Across The Miles – Craftin Desert Divas Creative Challenge!

Hey lovelies!
It’s time for another Designer Creative Challenge from Craftin Desert Divas! This time we’re all about sharing the love and sending those smiles across the miles! This is something I like to do often, growing up cards have always held a sentimental value to myself and my family members so I cherish each and every card I receive! Whether you’re sending someone a note to encourage or support them, or even just to say hi! Handmade cards can make a huge impact on those you care about, knowing somebody has taken the time to sit and create something unique just for you really is a special feeling! Today I’m sharing with you a card I made using the ‘Kindness’ and ‘Wishful Thoughts’ stamp sets as I really love using florals for these types of cards!

1.jpg
I started by prepping some watercolour paper with my EK Success powder tool applicator. I stamped my floral image using Versafine Onyx Black ink, coated it in clear embossing powder and set it using my heat tool.
2.jpg
I painted my image using watercolour paints then fussy cut it out once it was dry. I went for a super colourful look, after all we want to brighten someone’s day!
3.jpg
I cut a panel using the Crazy Stitched Frame dies from heavy weight white card before stamping some of the smaller images from the Kindness set in a random pattern using Iced Spruce Distress Oxide Ink to give it a softer look. I cut down a rectangle piece of white card and stamped my sentiment from the Wishful Thoughts set in Versafine Onyx Black ink. I drew little dashes along the border of the rectangle using my ruler and a black pen to add a little extra detail. I positioned my flowers and sentiment towards the centre of my panel and popped them up with some double sided foam tape. I adhered my entire panel to my card base using some double sided tape to finish!

Craftin Desert Divas July Sneak Peek “Good Times”!

Hey there lovelies! ❤

Today I have something exciting to share with you, if you’ve been following the July sneak peek post’s over on the Craftin Desert Divas’ Blog you’ve already seen some incredibly cute creations from the rest of the team, and today I finally get to share with you one of my own using the brand new set “Good Times”!

CDD Good Times Sneak Peak Blog July 18

For this card I stamped my images from what would be in the foreground first (so the mouse, fox and the picnic) on watercolour paper using Ranger Archival Jet Black ink, I then stamped the images again on some post it notes and fussy cut them out to create masks. Once I laid the masks over the images, I proceeded to stamp the tree with the badger where I wanted it before carefully removing the masks. I used watercolour paints to paint my characters, the picnic and the tree. I used salty ocean and mowed lawn distress inks to watercolour my sky and my grass. I then cut down a panel of white card stock, die cut my window using the circle from the “Shake It Up Dies” and adhered over my scene using foam tape. I stamped my sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink, coated with clear embossing powder and heat set it before cutting in to a thin sentiment banner and adhering it to the upper left portion of my panel. To finish I adhered my scene to my card base using double sided tape.

There we have it! The sneak peeks are officially wrapping up, what are your thoughts?! I had so much fun playing with this set and also the Brighter Days set (I have posted photos of my projects using those on my Instagram and Facebook Page if you would like to check those out), and I’m sure you will too if you decide to purchase! This month’s entire release is so adorable, be sure to head over to the other Design Team members’ blogs to check out some more inspiration using all the wonderful products that are releasing later today (3pm EST)!

Sprinkled With Love Card Using Some Odd Girl “Sweet & Salty”!

Hey lovelies! ❤ I’m back with another card using the Sweet & Salty stamp set from Some Odd Girl, I personally love this stamp set as the images are such a great size for a focal image! The weather has been heating up more and more lately as summer creeps in, what more perfect time for ice cream?!

~Tools and products used will be listed at the end of this blog post!~

33865948_2120361884658303_7347164441735069696_n.jpg

I created my card base using heavyweight white card stock, and cut a panel of patterned paper from the Pink and Main “Be Brave” 6×6 paper pack to be slightly smaller than my card base. I chose the colourful triangle paper because it reminded me of bunting used for summer parties, how appropriate! I cut some strips from white card stock, I prepped one of the strips with my EK Success Powder tool so the embossing powder would only stick to the area I stamped. I stamped my sentiment “Sprinkled With Love” in Versafine onyx black ink, coated it in Papermania clear embossing powder and set with my heat tool. I then adhered the strips across the patterned paper using double sided foam tape, being careful to line them up with the edges of the patterned paper.

I stamped my ice cream cone images using Ranger Archival jet black ink as I planned to watercolour them this time around. My favourite flavour of ice cream is mint, so I felt I had to put that front and centre! I decided to go with chocolate and vanilla for the other two so they weren’t all competing too much on the card. Once they were dry I fussy cut them out by hand and adhered them together first using my regular tape runner, then adhered them beside my sentiment on my card!

33943289_2120361944658297_1831684469480751104_n.jpg

Thank you for reading lovelies! ❤ This was such a quick card to make, probably one of my quickest! I love how simple yet colourful it is at the same time, and I think it’s perfect to send to a loved one in summer! What’s your favourite flavour of ice cream?!

In Omnia Paratus Card Using Ink Road Stamps “Stars Hollow”!

Hey lovelies! ❤

Today I want to share with you the second card I’ve made with this gorgeous stamp set from Ink Road Stamps! Anybody who watches Gilmore Girls will know of the Life and Death Brigade and the latin term ‘In Omnia Paratus’ which means ‘ready for anything’! Some of my favourite moments in the show happened with Rory and the Life and Death Brigade, although I’m still team Jess! With that being said, I couldn’t NOT make this card!

~Tools and products used will be listed at the end of this blog post!~

33377003_2113442525350239_8902136490595713024_n.jpg

I made my tall card base and cut a panel slightly smaller from white card stock, I wanted it to represent the jump made by Rory and Logan with the rest of the group so I felt it was most appropriate! I cut a cloud shape stencil from white card stock again, and began inking my panel from the top with my Ranger/Tim Holtz Salty Ocean Distress Ink. I kept blending the colour all the way down to the bottom of my panel, once finished I distressed it with my Distress Spray bottle.

For the little umbrellas I stamped them with Tsukineko Memento tuxedo black ink on white card stock, then coloured them in rainbow colours using my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. I took a small circle die and cut them out using my Big Shot machine.

For my sentiments I treated some black card stock with my EK Success powder tool, so the embossing powder wouldn’t stick to anywhere else apart from where I stamped. I stamped both sentiments in Tsukineko Versamark ink, covered them in Altenew pure white embossing powder and set them with my heat tool before cutting them in to thin strips using my paper trimmer. I used my scissors to create a little fish tail banner for the “you jump, I jump” sentiment.

For assembly I began by cutting down some black matte paper to create a border around my panel on the card, adhering it to my card base with my regular tape runner. I then wrapped some blue and white twine around the left side of my panel, adhering it to the back with some washi tape. I backed the umbrella circles and sentiments with double sided foam tape, adhered the umbrellas over the twine and put the sentiments in place where I had planned. I finished by backing the entire panel in foam tape and adhering to my card base.

Donut You Know Friendship Card Using Some Odd Girl “Sweet & Salty”!

Hello lovelies! ❤

Hands up if you have a sweet tooth?! I tend to side with the saltier things in life but donuts are one exception to that rule! I was gifted this cute stamp set by my friend Anna a little while ago, knowing if it’s cute and food related I’m in LOVE!

~Tools and products used will be listed at the end of this blog post!~

32941456_2108447172516441_7529101214898716672_n

I knew I wanted to work with the donut stamp from this set as I had a sentiment from Lawn Fawn’s “Sweet Friends” set that would go great with it! I began by creating my card base and adhering some black matte paper on top, then cut my panel slightly smaller from watercolour paper. I treated the watercolour paper with my EK Success powder tool as I was planning to heat emboss my images. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink to stamp my donuts all over my panel, coated them in clear embossing powder from papermania then set them with my heat tool.

I moved on to colouring my images, I knew I wanted the frosting on the donuts to be pretty bright so I decided to watercolour it with distress inks. I decided on a blue and pink ink and used the alternate colour of sprinkles for each donut. I used my watercolour paint for the actual donut underneath as I didn’t have a distress ink that would fit the colour.

For my sentiment I treated some black card stock with my powder tool, used my Versamark ink to stamp my sentiment and heat embossed it in Altenew pure white embossing powder. I then cut them in to thin sentiment strips and cut the edges at an angle. I adhered them to my panel using my regular tape runner. To finish the card I backed the donut panel with foam tape and adhered to my card base.

Thanks for reading lovelies! ❤ I can’t wait to play with this set again in the future, the images are a great size and are too cute to just sit away in storage! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend! 🙂

Easy Colourful Thank You Card!

Hey lovelies! ❤

Today I wanted to share with you a thank you card I made for my mum using the Mama Elephant – Botanic Thanks stamp set! I made this card for my mum to let her know how much I appreciate her and that I was thinking of her, she lives all the way back home in Scotland so I don’t get to see her very often at the moment!

~Tools and products used will be listed at the end of this blog post!~

31073144_2077422335618925_2353621230436745216_n

I started by taking some watercolour paper and placing it in my Tonic Studios/Tim Holtz stamping platform, knowing I would definitely have to stamp at least twice I adhered it to the base of the platform with washi tape as well as using the magnets for extra grip. I lined my stamp up so it was straight and used my EK Success powder tool over the surface of the paper so I would have no issues with embossing powder getting stuck where I don’t want it! I inked up my stamp at least 4 times in the process with Versafine Onyx Black ink, the stamp is extremely detailed (it’s beautiful!) so it took a few more times than usual, making sure to get every little detail crisp and clear! Once I had a good impression, I coated it with Papermania clear embossing powder and set it with my heat tool (making sure to lift it off the platform for this, we don’t want it melting!).

I trimmed my watercolour paper down to the size I wanted, to fit as a central strip across the front of my A2 card base. I then adhered the panel to my glass mat with washi tape (very little on the top and bottom!) to try prevent too much warping/curling of the paper while I painted. Time to have fun playing with colour! I chose a very bright palette for this card, as my mum has always been my best friend and the reason for a lot of warm, happy memories so I wanted to reflect that here. I tend to add the colour concentrated where I want my shadows to be, then I lightly drag the colour outwards with a small amount of water to blend and colour the rest of the image. I decided as the rest of the panel was pretty bold, to go with a simple gold metallic for the lettering to give it a little shimmer. Very simple watercolouring but gives what I feel is a lovely result!

Once I’d finished painting and I was waiting for it to dry, (I prefer to leave it to dry naturally when it comes to large pieces with intricate details like this!), I heat embossed the small sentiment in the set ‘for being you’ with Altenew Pure White embossing powder on black card stock, trimmed it in to a small strip ready to be adhered when the panel was finished! When the paint was dry, I added some details with a white chalk marker. I love the effect this gives and feel it really can add that little bit extra to your makes! Wether it’s dots or highlights, it’s something I use quite often!

I adhered a black matte paper to my card base to give contrast to the white of the watercolour paper and then adhered the panel in the centre of the card. To finish it off I added some Love From Lizi gold peel offs above and below the panel, for that extra sparkle!

Thank you so much for reading lovelies! I had a blast making this card, it took me from being slightly intimidated by watercolour to being head over heels in love with the medium. Let me know what you think below! ❤

Coffee Themed Shaker Card!

Hello lovelies! Hope you’re all well! ❤

One of my favourite things in life is coffee, I’m about a Lorelei Gilmore on the addiction scale. My wonderful friend Anna, over at Anna Kim Designs, it’s her birthday today! (Her blog is also crafty, so if you love crafts like I do, go say hello, Happy Birthday and tell her I sent you!) Anna is about as addicted to coffee and sparkly things as I am, so naturally when thinking of what card to create for her, I instantly reached for the Simon Says Stamp – Coffee and Tea stamp set! I feel like it sums us, and our friendship up perfectly! ❤

~Tools and products used will be listed at the end of this blog post!~

31047774_2077352768959215_3596834926269300736_n

As it’s such a special occasion, I definitely had to make a shaker for that extra little sparkle! So I started by choosing which sequins I felt would go well with the theme and settled with some copper, gold, and light gold ones! From there I trimmed my panel down to fit my card base, only leaving a little bit for a black matte border. I stamped the coffee mugs and take out cups in Ranger Archival black ink all over in a random pattern, centred a circle die towards the top of the panel and ran it through my Big Shot. Once that was done, I splattered gold watercolour paint from the Gansai Tambi “Starry colors” and Ranger/Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink (using the same water, so the ink is sparkly!) to mimic the colour of coffee! I stamped an additional coffee mug, painted it with watercolour then cut it out by hand.

For the sentiments I used a mix from the Simon Says Stamp – Coffee and Tea set and the Lawn Fawn – Elphie Selfie set. I cut down a piece of heat resistant acetate to fit behind my circle window, lined the stamp up in my Tim Holtz stamping platform before removing the panel so I wouldn’t get any embossing powder stuck to it. I used my EK Success powder tool to try stop the powder from clinging to anywhere that I didn’t want it to, in my experience embossing powder especially loves acetate! Once I had a good impression I used Altenew’s Pure White embossing powder and heat set it with my heat tool. I used the same embossing powder for the “have an unforgettable day” sentiment, only I stamped it on some black card stock and trimmed it in to a thin strip. I cut the edge at a slight angle and adhered it towards the bottom of the panel.

Once my sentiments were all embossed and ready, I attached the acetate to the back of my shaker window, added the yellow coffee mug to the front of the shaker window in the centre, lined the circle window with 3M foam tape on the back (doubled up!) and used my powder tool on the inside edges so the sequins could move around more easily. I put my choice of sparkly bits in the window, cut down a square of the kraft patterned paper with white stripes from DCWV, and adhered it to the foam tape, trapping the sequins inside! I gave it a good shake to make sure none of them tried to make the great escape (I’ve had a very sparkly craft room before haha!) I backed the entire back of the panel with foam tape, adhered a black mat to my card base and then the panel centred on top of it!

31073137_2077352805625878_4084309814534995968_n

To sum things up, I’d like to wish Anna (my lil stalk of corn!) a VERY Happy Birthday! I wish I could be there to celebrate with you girl, but be sure to know I’m sending you a huge hug across the miles! ❤

Well that’s it lovelies, thank you all for reading! Let me know what you think down below! ❤

Simple Cards using Spellbinders Shapeabilities “Little Loves” Dies!

Hey lovelies! ❤
Today I want to share two cards with you I made using the Spellbinders Shapeabilites “Little Boys at Play” and “First Adventure” dies, from the “Little Loves” collection! These dies really helped me step out of my comfort zone with card making and I really love the end results!
~Tools and products used will be listed at the end of this blog post!~

31100508_2077682535592905_8489011038161731584_n

“Little Boys at Play”

31093388_2077682508926241_1595855571968327680_n.jpg31154215_2077682475592911_5458513209667354624_n

I cut these cute little boys out of black card stock while trying to figure out which direction I wanted the card to go. Deciding against using patterned paper for the background, I threw caution to the wind and decided to try ink smooshing for the first time EVER with my distress inks! There’s no time like the present, right? I decided to go with blues and pinks for that whimsical feel, once everything was dried I splattered white metallic paint on to the background to give it that little extra shimmer (also makes it look a little bit like a magical night sky in my opinion!)

Once the background panel was complete, I had to decide which sentiment to use as I was planning to heat emboss directly on to the panel itself. I placed the die cut of the little boys playing at the bottom of the panel where I planned to adhere them later, and played around with the sentiments I felt would work well and placement. I landed on “Friends are the best gifts of all”, as this die reminds me of childhood, those close bonds you form as kids can help shape who you are throughout your life. Using my stamp platform to line up my sentiment to get it as straight as possible, and to ensure I got a good impression I then stamped my sentiment and heat embossed in gold!

To finish up the panel, it was time to adhere the die cut itself! You can use any type of adhesive for this, but I went with my strong double sided tape to make sure it stayed in place. The little boys really brought the panel to life! (Also how cute is the little dog?!) With the panel being finished, I started work on the card base. The card base itself is 14cm (length) x 11cm (height) while closed, a perfect fit for the panel which is 14cm (length) x 10cm (height). I used smooth white (300gsm) card stock for both! I cut some black paper to use as a mat for my panel, adhered that to the card base quickly followed by the panel (I used my regular tape runner for this!). I added the finishing touches of two gold peel offs to add more definition to the edge of the panel, and that was the first card finished! Let me know in the comments what you think!

“First Adventure”

31091916_2077682442259581_8284003191037624320_n31056909_2077682422259583_1054658700188319744_n

I was originally planning to make this card a shaker, but as I had did some extra ink smooshing with what was left on my surface after creating the panel for the first card I decided to make these cards a set of two! After all we can’t let the pretty vibrant colours go to waste! I created my card base first this time, (also 14cmx11cm just standing upright this time!) the panel itself is 13cmx10cm out of smooth white card stock. Working on the panel I started by positioning the die towards the top of the panel in the centre, then also cut it out of black card stock for the image of the cute child on their adventure! I moved the image of the child to the side and used my metallic watercolour paints to splatter two shades of light gold over the white panel and let it air dry while I moved on to my sentiment.

I took some black card stock and heat embossed “Life is one big ADVENTURE” on three different strips with white embossing powder, I thought adding the sentiments towards the bottom of the card with a staggered effect added to the design quite nicely!

For me this die represented a child’s imagination, the need to explore and find the beauty. This is why I kept the panel and base pretty neutral and let the pop of colour come from behind the child going on their “First Adventure”! After adhering the inked panel behind the window, I used my multi medium matte glue to inlay the child image where it fit perfectly and that completes the panel! I added a black mat to my card once again, backed the panel with foam tape and adhered it to the centre of the card.

Overall I had a lot of fun playing with these products and being taken out of my comfort zone, these dies are beautifully intricate and high quality. If you haven’t tried them out, I’d definitely recommend snapping some of them up! I’m looking forward to using more of them in the future! ❤

Thanks for reading lovelies! Let me know what you think! Which die is your favourite?! ❤
