Hey lovelies! ❤
Today I’m sharing the card I made for my dad’s birthday which was just last week! I think sometimes I rely so heavily on stamped images that I forget you don’t always need them to make a fun card! So I decided for this card the main focus would be using dies and ink blending, only using stamps for my sentiment!
I started by die cutting out all of the balloons and their strings from heavyweight white card stock. Once I had the pieces I needed, I used Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers distress inks to colour my balloons. I ink blended heavily towards the bottom of the balloons and faded it to a lighter coverage towards the top to give them some dimension. For the yellow balloons I added a little Spiced Marmalade distress ink to the bottom of them to give a little more contrast. Once they were all coloured I distressed them using my Distress Sprayer.
I used a stencil to blend some Peacock Feathers distress ink on to white card, before cutting out the gift box from it. I adhered the balloons, strings and box all together using some washi tape on the back of them and my glue roller.
I took the scrap piece of card where I had cut the box die from, and blended on to the other side using Mustard Seed distress ink before cutting out the ribbon pieces and the bow using the dies. Once I had die cut all my pieces, I lightly blended over the edges using some Spiced Marmalade distress ink to give them some dimension and adhered them to my gift box using my glue roller.
I then die cut a panel using the largest of the Crazy Stitched Frame Dies and blended some Salty Ocean distress ink on to it, keeping it darkest towards the edges and lighter towards the inside. I proceeded to put some Peacock Feathers distress ink on my stamp block, dilute it with water and splatter on to my panel. I dried it using my heat tool, then prepped my panel and a white strip of card with my powder tool so embossing powder would only stick to where I stamped my sentiment. I stamped my sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink and coated it with clear embossing powder before setting it with my heat tool.
I adhered my white strip with the second half of my sentiment on to my card using my glue roller and trimmed off the excess, before adhering my balloons to the left of the sentiment using foam tape. I finished up by backing the entire panel with foam tape and adhering it to my card base.
Thanks for reading lovelies! ❤ What do you use most for making your cards? I think this has definitely inspired me to use dies more often for the focal point of my card. There are lots of amazing dies that can be used this way on the Craftin Desert Divas shop and I can’t wait to play with more of them!
