Simple Watercolour Card Using Mama Elephant’s “Flying With Friends” Stamp Set!

Hey lovelies!
Today I’m sharing a simple card using the “Flying With Friends” stamp set from Mama Elephant! I’m guilty of always wanting to add “more” to my cards but sometimes a simple small scene is all you really need!
1.jpg23.jpg
I cut a panel from watercolour paper using the second largest of Mama Elephant’s “Basic Rectangles” Creative Cuts. I stamped the elephant on the left first using Ranger Archival Jet Black ink and created a mask for him before stamping my second elephant sitting next to him. I coloured my images and created a soft background for them using my Altenew watercolour paints. Once my paint was dry I added some highlights to my images with a white gel pen. I prepared my panel with my powder tool applicator before stamping my sentiment from Lawn Fawn’s “Let’s Toast” stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink to the top left of my images, I coated it in clear embossing powder and set it with my heat tool.
4.jpg5.jpg
I created a panel from white card stock using the largest of the “Basic Rectangles” Creative Cuts and ink blended it with Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink around the edges. I distressed my panel with my Distress Sprayer and cleaned up the excess water. Once my panel was dry I adhered my watercolour panel to the centre and adhered them to my card base.

Simple Watercolour Card Using Concord & 9th’s “Monster Love” Stamp Set!

Hey lovelies!
We’ve shifted from Christmas cards to Valentine’s Day cards in the craft world, so today I thought I’d share with you this simple card using Concord & 9th’s “Monster Love” stamp set! As soon as these cuties were released I knew I had to have them!
4
I stamped my monster and his tummy first using Archival Jet Black ink on some watercolour paper. I masked the monster while I stamped the balloon and string, I used the “love you” sentiment in the balloon this time to fit with the theme.
1.jpg
I used Altenew’s watercolour palette to colour my monster and background. I also dotted some of the paint around the background while it was still damp to add the confetti look to my panel. I finished up by adding some white highlights using a white gel pen before using the Mama Elephant “Basic Rectangles” Creative Cuts to cut out my panel.
2.jpg3
I cut a sentiment strip and prepped it using my powder tool applicator. I stamped my sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink, coated it in clear embossing powder and set it with my heat tool. I cut another panel using the largest of the “Basic Rectangles” Creative Cuts from Mama Elephant again to frame my panel, adhered my watercolour panel to it and used 3M Scotch Double Sided Foam Tape to attach my sentiment to my panel. I adhered my panel to my card base and decided to leave it there to keep it simple!

Smiles Across The Miles – Craftin Desert Divas Creative Challenge!

Hey lovelies!
It’s time for another Designer Creative Challenge from Craftin Desert Divas! This time we’re all about sharing the love and sending those smiles across the miles! This is something I like to do often, growing up cards have always held a sentimental value to myself and my family members so I cherish each and every card I receive! Whether you’re sending someone a note to encourage or support them, or even just to say hi! Handmade cards can make a huge impact on those you care about, knowing somebody has taken the time to sit and create something unique just for you really is a special feeling! Today I’m sharing with you a card I made using the ‘Kindness’ and ‘Wishful Thoughts’ stamp sets as I really love using florals for these types of cards!

1.jpg
I started by prepping some watercolour paper with my EK Success powder tool applicator. I stamped my floral image using Versafine Onyx Black ink, coated it in clear embossing powder and set it using my heat tool.
2.jpg
I painted my image using watercolour paints then fussy cut it out once it was dry. I went for a super colourful look, after all we want to brighten someone’s day!
3.jpg
I cut a panel using the Crazy Stitched Frame dies from heavy weight white card before stamping some of the smaller images from the Kindness set in a random pattern using Iced Spruce Distress Oxide Ink to give it a softer look. I cut down a rectangle piece of white card and stamped my sentiment from the Wishful Thoughts set in Versafine Onyx Black ink. I drew little dashes along the border of the rectangle using my ruler and a black pen to add a little extra detail. I positioned my flowers and sentiment towards the centre of my panel and popped them up with some double sided foam tape. I adhered my entire panel to my card base using some double sided tape to finish!

Thank you for stopping by lovelies! ‘Just because’ cards are among my favourite cards to make, I’m sure I’m going to get a lot of use out of this stamp set in the future too! I hope you like what I’ve created to show you today, please be sure to stop by the Craftin Desert Divas’ blog post to see what the other DT members have created for inspiration! These talented ladies have a lot of helpful tips up their sleeves! ❤

Friendship Card using CDD Brighter Days!

Hey lovelies! ❤
Today I’m sharing another card using the new Brighter Days set from Craftin Desert Divas! This time using the little lamb from the set as she was too cute I couldn’t wait to colour her!
CDD Brighter Days Sneak Peak July 18.jpg
I stamped my image using Ranger Archival Jet Black ink on to some watercolour paper, I then watercoloured my image to achieve the soft look she has before using my white pen to add some polkadot details to the pink areas of her clothing and accessories. After fussy cutting out my image I cut two panels out using the Crazy Stitched Frame Dies from heavyweight white card stock, and cut across one of them towards the bottom using a die from the Shake It Up Dies to create the grass area. On my larger panel I stamped the small butterfly and created a mask for it using a post it note. I ink blended the panel using salty ocean distress ink to create my sky, before spraying it with water using my distress sprayer bottle, I picked up the excess water with some tissue and set it aside to dry. Once it was dry I removed my mask and lightly watercoloured the butterfly taking care not to apply too much water to avoid the paper pilling. To create my grass area I ink blended on to the second panel using mowed lawn distress ink. I adhered my panels together using double sided score tape before adhering the little lamb using some foam tape. I prepped some white card with my powder tool before stamping my sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink, coated it in clear embossing powder and set it with my heat tool. I cut my sentiment in to a thin banner shape and adhered it to my panel using my glue roller. I die cut the largest of the Crazy Stitched Frame Dies from white card stock and adhered my front panel to the centre using double sided foam tape, before I used my double sided score tape to adhere it to my card base.

What do you think? This was a relatively quick and easy card and I love how the soft colours look on this cutie! If you haven’t checked out the new release yet be sure to head over to the Craftin Desert Divas shop! You don’t wanna miss out! ❤

Sprinkled With Love Card Using Some Odd Girl “Sweet & Salty”!

Hey lovelies! ❤ I’m back with another card using the Sweet & Salty stamp set from Some Odd Girl, I personally love this stamp set as the images are such a great size for a focal image! The weather has been heating up more and more lately as summer creeps in, what more perfect time for ice cream?!

~Tools and products used will be listed at the end of this blog post!~

33865948_2120361884658303_7347164441735069696_n.jpg

I created my card base using heavyweight white card stock, and cut a panel of patterned paper from the Pink and Main “Be Brave” 6×6 paper pack to be slightly smaller than my card base. I chose the colourful triangle paper because it reminded me of bunting used for summer parties, how appropriate! I cut some strips from white card stock, I prepped one of the strips with my EK Success Powder tool so the embossing powder would only stick to the area I stamped. I stamped my sentiment “Sprinkled With Love” in Versafine onyx black ink, coated it in Papermania clear embossing powder and set with my heat tool. I then adhered the strips across the patterned paper using double sided foam tape, being careful to line them up with the edges of the patterned paper.

I stamped my ice cream cone images using Ranger Archival jet black ink as I planned to watercolour them this time around. My favourite flavour of ice cream is mint, so I felt I had to put that front and centre! I decided to go with chocolate and vanilla for the other two so they weren’t all competing too much on the card. Once they were dry I fussy cut them out by hand and adhered them together first using my regular tape runner, then adhered them beside my sentiment on my card!

33943289_2120361944658297_1831684469480751104_n.jpg

Thank you for reading lovelies! ❤ This was such a quick card to make, probably one of my quickest! I love how simple yet colourful it is at the same time, and I think it’s perfect to send to a loved one in summer! What’s your favourite flavour of ice cream?!

Sarcastic Coffee Card Using Ink Road Stamps “Stars Hollow”

Hey lovelies! ❤

By now I probably don’t need to explain my love for coffee, or Gilmore Girls for that matter! I made this card yesterday after learning about the Coffee Lover’s blog hop that started on Friday! So of course, being a Lorelai Gilmore on the coffee addiction scale I just HAD to use the Stars Hollow Set from Ink Road Stamps again!

~Tools and products used will be listed at the end of this blog post!~

33540697_2115506188477206_3129293552454991872_n.jpg

I began by treating a piece of white card stock with my EK success powder tool as I knew I was going to emboss my images for this card. I stamped the to go coffee cups in a random fashion in Tsukineko Versafine onyx black ink, coated in clear embossing powder and set them with my heat tool. I used a circle die to cut out the area I wanted with my Sizzix Big Shot machine. I’d never tried watercolouring on my white card stock before, but I didn’t want the texture which my watercolour paper has for this piece. I found that as long as I don’t use too much water, it holds up just fine! I took my Salty Ocean distress ink, spread some on my glass craft mat and sprayed with some water, picking up the colour with a paintbrush I painted the areas around the coffee cups with the ink. I moved on to using some brown, orange and green watercolour paints for the coffee cups themselves and set the circle aside to dry.

I created my card base and cut some matte black paper slightly smaller then adhered it with my regular tape runner. I created a panel with some foiled card stock from DCWV. I prepped some black card stock with my powder tool and chose my sentiments, I chose “coffee please, people are particularly stupid today, I cannot talk to any more of them”, I love a good sassy sentiment! This is an iconic Michelle moment in Gilmore Girls and I can’t read that phrase without reading it in his voice! I stamped my sentiments in Tsukineko Versamark ink and heat embossed it in Altenew Pure White embossing powder, cutting them in to thin strips.

By this time the circle panel was dry, so I took a die from the Avery Elle tag dies and partially die cut it on either side of the circle. I backed the circle with double sided foam tape as I wanted it to add a little extra dimension to the card. I used some blue and white twine and threaded it through the holes on either side of the circle. Adhering the circle to the foiled card stock panel, I wrapped the twine behind the foiled panel and adhered it to the back with some washi tape. I glued my sentiments flat to the card using my regular tape runner, backed the entire panel in foam tape and adhered to my card base.

Donut You Know Friendship Card Using Some Odd Girl “Sweet & Salty”!

Hello lovelies! ❤

Hands up if you have a sweet tooth?! I tend to side with the saltier things in life but donuts are one exception to that rule! I was gifted this cute stamp set by my friend Anna a little while ago, knowing if it’s cute and food related I’m in LOVE!

~Tools and products used will be listed at the end of this blog post!~

32941456_2108447172516441_7529101214898716672_n

I knew I wanted to work with the donut stamp from this set as I had a sentiment from Lawn Fawn’s “Sweet Friends” set that would go great with it! I began by creating my card base and adhering some black matte paper on top, then cut my panel slightly smaller from watercolour paper. I treated the watercolour paper with my EK Success powder tool as I was planning to heat emboss my images. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink to stamp my donuts all over my panel, coated them in clear embossing powder from papermania then set them with my heat tool.

I moved on to colouring my images, I knew I wanted the frosting on the donuts to be pretty bright so I decided to watercolour it with distress inks. I decided on a blue and pink ink and used the alternate colour of sprinkles for each donut. I used my watercolour paint for the actual donut underneath as I didn’t have a distress ink that would fit the colour.

For my sentiment I treated some black card stock with my powder tool, used my Versamark ink to stamp my sentiment and heat embossed it in Altenew pure white embossing powder. I then cut them in to thin sentiment strips and cut the edges at an angle. I adhered them to my panel using my regular tape runner. To finish the card I backed the donut panel with foam tape and adhered to my card base.

Thanks for reading lovelies! ❤ I can’t wait to play with this set again in the future, the images are a great size and are too cute to just sit away in storage! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend! 🙂

Friendship Card Using Simon Says Stamp “Coffee and Tea”!

Hello lovelies! ❤ Popping on with another card I made a little while back with the Simon Says Stamp Coffee and Tea set! I think it’s safe to say this set is well loved! This is the last of the old card posts, I promise! I just wanted to share a few of my favs here with you all, as some are already posted on my instagram! (@brodiecreations)

~Tools and products used will be listed at the end of this blog post!~

31224127_2079625145398644_2445523914139369472_n

This was a relatively quick and easy card to make as I had already stamped and painted my images with watercolours in advance (just HAD to start playing with them as soon as the set arrived in the post!). I started by making my card base (13cmx13cm) and adhering some matte black paper as a base for my panel. I cut my panel down to size (12cmx12cm) and splattered it with gold watercolour paint from the Gansai Tambi “Starry Colors” set as well as the Ranger/Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress ink to give it that coffee feel. Once the panel was dry I adhered a strip across the centre of the panel using my regular tape runner to break it up a little.

Next I began working on the green circular panel which I had die cut using my Big Shot machine, where I planned to heat emboss my sentiment and where my images would be placed. I ink blended a combination of mowed lawn and cracked pistachio distress inks (mowed lawn towards the outside of the circle blending inwards to cracked pistachio), and lightly blended some vintage photo around the edges to give a slightly grungy look to it. I then dusted over the whole circle using my EK Success powder tool, placed the circle in my Tonic Studios/Tim Holtz stamping platform and stamped my sentiment with Tsukineko Versamark ink. I heat embossed the sentiment using Altenew pure white embossing powder to give a contrast to the green in the background. Finally I adhered my images using my Ranger multi medium matte adhesive, once the glue was dry I backed the circle panel with foam tape and placed it in the centre of my card to finish.

Thanks for reading lovelies! ❤ This was a pretty quick card to make but one I thoroughly enjoyed making. Making anything coffee related seems to be one of my happiest places lately, but that’s no surprise considering my caffeine intake!

Sweet Friendship Card using Lawn Fawn “Sweet Friends” Stamp Set

Hey lovelies! ❤

Today I want to share with you a card I made using the Lawn Fawn – Sweet Friends stamps and coordinating die set. Cute food and animal images are my weaknesses when it comes to card making, so I knew from the adorable sweet treats images and punny sentiments in this set I was going to be in love!

~Tools and products used will be listed at the end of this blog post!~

31189793_2079625112065314_1199116944481976320_n

I started by stamping out the little s’more images and the little heart trio with Ranger Archival jet black ink on to some watercolour paper, while making this card I was just in the process of trying to become more comfortable with watercolour painting images/backgrounds. Once I painted them and was happy enough with the results, I used the coordinating die set to cut out my images using my Big Shot. I then stamped their little faces and drew in some blushing cheeks using coloured pencil (I didn’t stamp the faces at first as I wasn’t sure if I was going to use them on this card).

Once my images were ready I ink blended on to a piece of white scrap card stock using the Ranger/Tim Holtz Salty Ocean distress ink and used my spray bottle to give it the distressed look I wanted. Once dry, I decided to cut out a laced heart using the medium die from the Lawn Fawn Lacy Heart Stackable die set. I played about with placement to figure out where I wanted my little characters to go as well as the little hearts from the set, once I was happy I adhered the s’mores with some 3M double sided foam tape and the hearts with some Ranger multi medium matte adhesive.

Choosing a patterned paper was probably one of the things that took me the longest here, I just couldn’t decide! But I ended up going with this kraft paper with the white foil polkadots as I felt it suited the card best. I cut some black matte paper for my card base to size as well as the patterned paper, I adhered them using my usual tape runner adhesive and glued the blue heart with my little characters close to the top of my card in the centre.

For the sentiment I took a strip of black card stock and ran my EK Success powder tool over it, then heat embossed “I need S’MORE friends like you” with Altenew pure white embossing powder. I cut it to the size I needed and adhered it under the blue heart, and that was the card finished!

31143959_2079625098731982_8258129122635546624_n

Thank you for reading lovelies! ❤ Overall this was a pretty simple card, but I love the end result! I definitely plan to make more cards in the future using some of the other images in the set, they’re just too cute to resist!

Friendship Card using Simon Says Stamp “If The Hat Fits”!

Hello lovelies! ❤

Happy May! This year is going by so quickly isn’t it?! To me it still feels like Christmas and New Year was last week!

Today I’m sharing a card I made for my best friend using the Simon Says Stamp – If The Hat Fits stamp set, who said witch hats were only for Halloween? I think we all have that little bit of magic in us all year round!

~Tools and products used will be listed at the end of this blog post!~

31129383_2078024325558726_347695070243192832_n

After creating my card base and topping it with some matte black paper, I cut down a piece of watercolour paper to the size I needed and adhered it to the base of my stamping platform using washi tape and the magnets provided down the right side of the panel. I knew I wanted to do a lot of stamping down the left side of the card, so this gave me all the room I needed! I stamped three of the hats on some Simon Says Stamp masking paper and cut them out, I wanted to stack the hats on top of each other so in order to avoid all the lines crossing messily this is a necessary step. In order for the hats to look stacked, I started stamping from the top of the pile using Ranger Archival Jet Black ink, masking with the appropriate mask each time and worked my way down until I was close to the bottom of the panel.

Now my image is ready to paint! I tried to stick to a Witch-ish colour palette as it suits my friend and I’s aesthetic, though you can use any colours you’d like to with these hats! I painted the actual hats themselves first, leaving some drying time before moving on to the ribbons/trims as to avoid any overflow and mudding of paints. I used my Gansai Tambi “Starry Colors” paints for the buckles. Once my panel was dry I removed it from my stamping platform and placed it on my glass craft mat to splatter with black paint for that extra grungy/distressed feel!

Leaving the splattering to dry naturally I moved on to my sentiment, after using my powder tool, I heat embossed “You say witch like it’s a bad thing” with white embossing powder on black card stock, then die cut it with a small circle die from my stash. For the inside sentiment I went with “If the hat fits, get the matching shoes and broom” in Ranger Archival Jet Black ink once again, knowing my friend will see the comical side.

To finish off the card I adhered a black ribbon down the right side of the panel, attached my die cut sentiment circle with foam tape towards the bottom of the panel then using my regular tape runner I adhered the panel to the card base!

31093294_2078024372225388_5202122156225331200_n

Thank you for reading lovelies! ❤ This card took a little while longer to make due to all the masking, but I definitely feel like it was worth it! This is possibly one of my favourite cards I’ve made to date!
