Hey lovelies!
Today I’m sharing this cute Halloween card I made for Newton’s Nook “Inky Paws” challenge! You can check out more about the challenge here! For this challenge you have to follow a card sketch, which is something I’ve never done before! Of course I had to make the theme of my card Halloween – we all know I’m on a Halloween kick lately and I doubt I’ll stop making Halloween cards until November at this rate!
To start I stamped this cute little witch cat using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured him in using my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. I added rosy cheeks with a pink coloured pencil and highlights with my white gelly roll pen.
Spectrum Noir colours used:
Cat: (Fur) IG5, GG2, GG1 (Nose) CR2 (Ears) CR2, FS8
Broom: TN5, TN3, GB6, GB1, CR7, OR3, OR2
Hat: BG5, BG3, CR7, OR3, OR2
Once I had fussy cut out my image, I cut down a panel from heavy white card stock. I made a smaller panel the same width and cut across it diagonally, I blended Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide ink on to my diagonal strip, sprayed it with my distress sprayer and dried any excess water with a paper towel. I dried the ink with my heat tool before stamping the small bat from the stamp set in a pattern using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I took another piece of white card stock and ran it through my die cutting machine with the medium Inside Scalloped Circle die from Craftin Desert Divas. I took the inner piece of the die cut and blended Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide ink all over, I also blended the smallest amount of Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide ink over the edges for a little more dimension.
I took my white panel and splattered it with Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide ink and black watercolour paint. Once that was dry I prepped my panel with my EK Success Powder Tool Applicator. I stamped my sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink, coated it in clear embossing powder and set it with my heat tool.
I adhered my diagonal strip with the bats and my black ribbon to my panel using double sided score tape. I took a long piece of black and white twine and cut it in to two pieces, adhering one end of each to the back of my panel (the shorter side to the right), I brought them both together over the front of my diagonal strip and tied them in a little bow. To finish my panel I popped the circle and cat up on some foam tape to add dimension to my card! I framed my panel using some black paper and adhered it to my card base.
Thanks for reading lovelies! I really love how this card turned out, it’s possibly my favourite Halloween card I’ve made so far this year! (I have a few more posts coming soon!) The images in this stamp set are some of my favourite Halloween stamps I own, and I’m for sure getting a lot of use out of them this year!
